People should have never stopped.
People should have never stopped.
DEAR WHITE HIPSTERS AND OTHER WHITE PEOPLE OF TUMBLR, CLICK PLAY AND LISTEN CLOSELY.“We don’t mean to offend you by calling you racist.”
Two slam poets with Brave New Voices deliver this fearless indictment of hipster cultural appropriation and all its collateral damage.
Lol seriously though why does this not have more notes?! I can’t even pick my favorite part. It’s amazing, and flawless, and just… yes.
“Acting like you’re down because you say “fuck the system,” but in the same breathe are quick to gentrify the hell out of my hood.”
“Is that racist? Yes, that is. And we don’t mean to offend you by calling you racist; we know that according to you, we’re all part of the universe. But you have a tendency to treat animals better than humans.”
“We don’t need to hear your feelings about our issues. “To be fair, as a white person—-” “Nononono, shut the FUCK up.””
To be fair, as someone who really likes poetry… (And is white?) where exactly was the fearless indictment? You know The New York Times has joined in on the hipster strawman bashing at this point right? And the note addressing this to all white people of tumblr, should I bring it up at the next white people meeting? I mean fuck, if you saw me walking to work in my “Ask me how to eat pho” shirt would you assume I’m ‘culturally appropriating’ something? Well then tell me exactly which of us is the douche? Well constructed verse, cheap content made worse by breathless tumblr commentary.
Dude, those white people meetings are supposed to be secret. Fuck.

sometimes I forget that a lot of people’s idea of a bad neighborhood is a little different than a bad neighborhood in New Orleans
